Gattopardo Apartments

In Palermo, we have designed two contemporary apartments in perfect dialogue with the prestigious style of the building hosting them. The heart of the city treasures one of the city’s greatest aristocratic residences, once the home of Prince Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of The Leopard. The renovation of the 16th-century residence, which was destroyed in 1943 during a bombardment, gave back an important cultural symbol to Palermo and all of Italy. Various apartments were created in the building, including two design-driven B&B apartments that the owner decided to furnish as members of the LAGO DESIGN NETWORK.

The first apartment LAGO WELCOME Palermo @Gattopardo Apartment is on the first floor of the building and unites modern furnishings with original 18th-century elements, creating a contrast of styles that add a touch of personality to the setting, in a richly historical frame that resounds with the words of the celebrated author who lived there.

The large windows of the living room, which is next to the dining area, open out onto a balcony overlooking a private internal garden. The Air sofa lends a sensation of lightness to the space, in perfect harmony with the antique furnishings selected by the owner. The large island kitchen, completed by a  N.O.W. pantry in various shades of green, is perfect for cooking in company and features a white Loto table with green petals that can be opened up as needed for evenings with guests.

The apartment has three elegant loft bedrooms: two doubles with suspended beds and a single with a sofa bed. In all three of the Palermo B&B’s, bedrooms, Et Voilà wardrobes with fabric doors disappear into the walls, making the discovery of their spacious interiors a charming surprise.

The second apartment has two floors and was created out of two former storerooms, retaining their original stone arches. It is a colourful, light-filled loft with a spacious living room that opens onto a terrace overlooking the garden, a kitchen with a dining area and a unique bedroom featuring a round Fluttua bed and a private bathroom. The design-driven furnishings are in perfect harmony with the original structure, and the books, conceived as an integral part of the interior, seem to be suspended on the Diagolinea shelving that covers all of the walls of the living area, climbing all the way to the ceiling. The LAGO WELCOME Palermo @Gattopardo Apartments are the perfect destination for those who love experiencing the city from original points of view, staying in residences steeped in fascinating history.
