For Design Week 2023, LAGO is presenting the LAGO SUSTAINABILITY CIRCLE: a business model accelerator of change, towards an ever more concrete form of sustainability.

Following investments of almost three million euros in sustainability-related
projects over the last three years, LAGO is continuing to strengthen its strategic
efforts towards achieving the UN 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development
Goals, actively involving a quarter of all staff.
For Design Week 2023, LAGO is launching the LAGO Sustainability Circle. This represents a fundamental step towards renewing its commitment to sustainability, which has been part of the company’s DNA for years through choices made ahead of time and today’s need to adapt business models to issues of the utmost urgency, on both a global and local scale. As part of this, LAGO will be presenting its first Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR) in 2024, ahead of the regulatory targets set for 2026.
LAGO is focusing on numerous ESG issues, including spreading a circular approach down the supply chain, guaranteeing high-quality, durable products and, last but not least, safeguarding the health and well-being of its staff. LAGO’s approach will also be outward-looking, designing sustainable social spaces and promoting a new, more conscious style of consumption.
"With the LAGO Sustainability Circle, we have given a tangible form and organisational structure to a concept we have been working on for some time, tackling ambitious challenges that actively involve the entire LAGO supply chain." says Daniele Lago, CEO & Head of Design at LAGO S.p.A. "We are proud to have been among the first companies in the sector to sense this urgency, years ago, and have been working ever since to find a balance between people, technology and the environment. Today’s announcement is not intended as a starting point, but rather a reminder of our efforts, renewing our promise with new methods and strategies. We all need to keep talking about this topic and taking concrete action, if we want something to really change. We see it as a moral duty towards future generations.”
LAGO is continuing its sustainable transformation, with the aim of promoting a conscious, circular and inclusive culture. The work undertaken in recent years has seen the company being awarded ISO 45001 certification (for worker health and safety) and ISO 14001 certification (for environmental safety). It has also led to investments of almost three million euros in innovative, impactful projects, including LAGO Campus in 2020, and the reusable trade fair stand, Good House, which shook up the traditional logic of a trade fair stand at the 2022 Salone del Mobile.
Continuing on the theme of sustainability, last year the company embarked on a journey to define medium- to-long-term intentions in relation to six strategic areas: People, Planet, Prosperity, Product, Customer and Governance. This project has enabled LAGO to set up six permanent working groups, which actively involve 25% of the company’s workforce and include discussions with key external opinion leaders to identify margins for further improvement in various areas of the company, together. The results of these working groups will serve to further strengthen LAGO’s strategy, at the heart of its first Sustainability Report.
LAGO will be delving into LAGO Sustainability Circle topics for the Fuorisalone 2023: on Wednesday 19 April, 6.30 p.m., Casa Lago’s lounge will host a debate between science communicator Ruggero Rollini and ultracycling champion Omar Di Felice, who has just returned from his latest adventure “Alone in Ladakh”, which saw him cross one of the highest and coldest regions on Earth. Theirs will be a different perspective on climate change and how human intervention has influenced it, from the point of view of someone who carefully studies the Earth and someone who travels it by bike.
